May Meeting Recap

We learned Labels and Sleeves! Special thanks to Susan, Linda, Judy, and Celia for demo-ing their skills and techniques! There's some files to download below and a recap of the info we learned.

Quilt Labels

Ensure the story of your quilt is preserved by including a label on the reverse.  Thanks to Linda Schmidt for the reach out to Katherine of the Alberta Quilt Study Society to gather their recommendations for information to include on a quilt label.

As a minimum include:
  • Your name
  • Where you live
  • Date

Other information to include:
  • Pattern name
  • Designer
  • Long-armer
  • Who the quilt was made for
  • Washing instructions
  • What the fabric/batting is made of
  • If the quilt has been exhibited/ won any prizes/ been documented
If you have used a computer to print the label, it is nice to still sign the label.  Where there is handwork on the quilt, consider signing the front of the quilt.
Additionally, some quilters have started to write out their personal information on a strip of fabric with a micron pen and sewing it right into the backing.
