Our May meeting will be at Wonderfil Threaducation
Centre Bay 4, 2915 19th St. NE from 7 – 9 pm on Thursday May 17th
2018.
The focus of May meeting is Advice Night! Bring a quilt you need advice on quilting or finishing, a pattern you need advice on colors, or any other quandary that would benefit the collective knowledge of the guild. We may split into smaller groups depending on the number of attendees and questions.
If you've entered your quilt into the Heritage Park Festival of Quilts in our group Libs Elliott pattern group entry then make sure you bring your entry to this meeting and give it to Agnes. The
Heritage Park Festival of Quilts is on May 26th and 27th, look for our booth there and come say hi!
There will be no sew day in May. The next sew day is scheduled for June - Learn How to Sew Curves! Mary will be focusing on the free pattern
Terrace by Violet Craft - 39 opportunities to practice your curves! It's only two colors so you have plenty of time to get your materials together and come sew with us! Of course you can bring any curvy project that you are working on - consider trying out
December 2017 MQG quilt of the month or
November 2016 MQG block of the month. Maybe a
Pickle Dish or a Double Wedding Ring? Or for a few less curves there is
Adore-la,
Mythical Lanterns (Valori Wells), and
Mod Dots

are also still continuing to run the Charity Table. This has been
hugely successful and has massively offset the costs required to fund
both the charity quilts for Sonshine and the QuiltCon Charity Quilt.
Bring in anything you have that you won't use that you think someone
else might love to take home. In the past this has included patterns,
magazines, notions, fabric (whole, scraps, selvage). This will be the last Charity Table until the fall.
The meeting agenda is:
- Guild business
- Advice Night!
- Block Lotto
- Show and tell
Please bring:
- A project you need advice on
- A quilt or project for show and tell
- Name tag
- Your Heritage Park group entry quilt
- Block lotto entries
- Charity Table donations
The dues cycle is January-December and they are $60
per person in 2018. Members who join after June will pay $40. First
meeting is free for visitors, then $10 for a single meeting (fees could
be more
for special programming). After that we ask you to support and join our
community by purchasing a membership to attend additional meetings and
sew days and to participate in other guild activities.
Your membership fee includes membership to the
Modern Quilt Guild. One the benefits of an MQG is access to their
resources. This includes a new webinar every month. Some of the webinars so far just this year include:
