We had a number of new faces at our September meeting which was really nice! Andrea Harris of Urban Quiltworks gave a really wonderful presentation on preparing your quilts for a longarm quilting service.
After the presentation was over, we shared our projects with each other. You can see we have so much talent within our group!
Our October challenge was announced and we will be creating a Halloween table runner using p.s. i quilt's tutorial. Please find free-motion quilting inspiration from Andrea on our Facebook page! We are looking forward to seeing everyone's finished table runner.
And an update to our Guild Block Challenge. We have all been straining to complete the Modern Monday's 42 blocks and have decided to change this challenge to include blocks from Tula Pink's Tula 100 book. Bernadette from Traditional Pastimes has reordered the book and it should be in shortly. They are the exact same size as the first challenge blocks so it shouldn't be too hard to switch over if you choose. A lot of members just found the blocks to be more wonky and awkward than expected.
Please check out instagram here for inspiration on these blocks! If you're on flickr or instagram please remember to tag #tula100 and #calmqg to play along!

July CMQG Meeting - Thursday July 18
Hi Everyone, we hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful summer weather and that everyone in Calgary and surrounding areas have stayed safe during last months flooding.
Our July meeting is coming up quickly. We are going to do something a little different this month, can everyone please bring "A few of your Favourite Quilting Things" to show and share with the group. We all have a few unique and interesting notions, bobs, or containers that make their quilting life a little easier and its aways neat to get a glimpse into what our members have stashed away inside their sewing rooms.
In addition to our "A few of our Favourite Things" sharing session we will also have share the Modern Monday blocks that some of us have been working on along with any other show and tell that you would like to bring.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday July 18th at Traditional Pastimes at 7:00.
Thanks,
Kari
