The highlights of our February's meeting.

The highlights of our February's meeting.

Our guild will be featured in an upcoming article, in the fall issue, of Quilters Connection magazine.
They are interested in our upcycle project. If you want your project to be considered for the article, take pictures before, in progress & when completed. Send them to Mary.

We will also be submitting a Group Entry to the Heritage Park Festival of Quilts. If you've done a Libs Elliott
quilt & want to submit it, contact Agnes. There is room for 15 quilts & there are about 6 spots left.

All positions on the Executive Committee have been filled, except for that of Event's Co-ordinator. If you are
interested, hurry up & submit your name, before Agnes takes it! It you would like the committee to meet at your house offer to bake them a cake.

Last on the agenda was a Group Activity. Best described as Speed Dating-Modern Guild Style.
The members got "up close & personal". Great idea Louise.

Join us next month for more fun.

February Meeting

Our February meeting will be at Wonderfil Threaducation Centre Bay 4, 2915 19th St. NE from 7 – 9 pm on Thursday February 15th 2018.

This month is the Annual General Meeting (AGM). We'll be voting on the new executive for the coming year. If you'd like to nominate someone or to be considered for a position please let the current executive know before the meeting.

Coming up (and subject to change):
  • April 27/28- Charity Sew Day
  • March 15th - Natalie Gerber on textile printing and surface design
  • April 19th - what is Modern? Jacqui Gering's video and discussion
  • May - Heritage Park FOQ meet up?
  • June 21st - skills night: how to bind your quilt
  • June 23rd - Sew Day: Learn to Sew Curves with Jera
  • October 11-14th workshop opportunities with Krista Hennebury from Poppyprint
We are also still continuing to run the Charity Table.  This has been hugely successful and has massively offset the costs required to fund both the charity quilts for Sonshine and the QuiltCon Charity Quilt. Bring in anything you have that you won't use that you think someone else might love to take home.  In the past this has included patterns, magazines, notions, fabric (whole, scraps, selvage).

The meeting agenda is:
  • Guild business - AGM
  • Interactive mixer game
  • Collect and award January Block Lotto
  • show and tell
Please bring:
  • A quilt or project for show and tell
  • Name tag
  • January lotto blocks (black and white two by four)
  • Charity Table donations

The dues cycle is January-December and they are $60 per person in 2018. Members who join after June will pay $35. First meeting is free for visitors, then $5 per meeting (fees could be more for special programming).
